Hayato was born and bred in the great city of Caldera. Like the city that hails for strength and loyalty, Hayato was an indomitable force of nature from the get go. Orphaned for as long as he could remember, he fought his way to survive. It's likely he wouldn't have amounted to much more than a punk had he not discovered a passion in photography. He took to it like he took to everything; with the tenacity of a hungry sharpedo. Turns out he was pretty damn good at it. He started making a living off his work, selling his photos to the newspaper. He kept himself a freelancer, so he could opt to take the photos he wanted rather than what was demanded. He was never interested in sensationalism and a lot of his pictures were much more human. Then, one day out of the blue, Hayato found himself at the right place at the right time. He snapped a picture of an assault. His evidence got the guy incarcerated. He realized then what he could do with his talents. Thus began Hayato's career as a justice-fueled photojournalist. With the war with Gigas, Hayato decided to pack up and head to the battlefield, using his talents to capture the truth of the war and to support his home in his own way. Not to say that he stayed off the front line. It was actually during a particularly gruesome battle that Hayato had found himself embroiled in the conflict. While he and the actual soldiers fought to the bitter end, most of them were either killed or captured. Hayato was one of the unlucky few that got taken alive. While he had anticipated his end to be horrible and gruesome, he had no idea just what Gigas had in store for him. Apparently his tenacity had caught the eye of one of the commanding officers who suggested him as fodder for one of their projects. He became one of the more experimental subjects of the Enhanced project. They probably only meant for him to survive long enough to collect data, but the further the project went, the more they realized Hayato had no plans of just dying off. They started looking into ways of controlling him as an actual soldier when another similar subject broke free. Seeing a comrade in Hayato, he broke the other out as well, and the two of them fought their way to freedom. It was a brutal fight where Hayato got his crash course in his new body, after accidentally killing some of the lab's security by simply trying to push them away. His accomplice talked him down and the two were able to fight their way to freedom. After the escape, they parted ways. Though Hayato doesn't know where he is now, he's sure they'll meet again. Until then, he made his way to Union. Now wrought with the harsh reality of what happened to him, he realized going home right then would be less than ideal. The city probably thought he was dead anyway. Maybe they were right. Either way, he made his way to Union in a vain hope that maybe he could start over.
